The spooky forest

Every night before dinner, I ask SB to say the blessing. Or rather, sing it. There are a couple of different prayers her class sings before lunch (she attends a Christian preschool). So she leads us in one of them before we eat each night.

One of the songs is the Johnny Appleseed prayer:

"Oh, the Lord is good to me,
And so I thank the Lord
For giving me the things I need
The sun, and the rain, and the apple seed.
The Lord is good to me."

That is the one she chooses most often. There is also one that is sung to the tune of Frère Jacques:

"God we thank you
(God we thank you)

Once again
(once again)

For this food before us
(For this food before us)

A-men
(A-men)"

The other night, as I sang along, SB corrected me and we ended up in a spirited discussion. She is convinced the words are, "spooky forest" instead of, "food before us." She was adamant about it and refused to believe otherwise, despite my attempts.

So I suggested she ask her teachers for clarification. Wish I could be a fly on the wall for that conversation...
