Ready to get Wild!

One of SB's favorite shows is Wild Kratts, an animated series from the Kratt brothers. She loves to see all the animals and watch the crazy antics of Chris and Martin. And I love that she learns so much from watching the show.

SB refers to the brothers as "the real Wild Kratts." You know, as opposed to their animated versions. And she has been dying to meet them.

We have access to two PBS stations here from two different cities. The show comes on in the afternoon on one and the evening on the other. Many times I will be in the process of cooking dinner while we watch.

I sing and dance around the kitchen to the theme song like a total goofball during the opening credits. SB gets a real kick out of my performance. Over dinner, we talk about the animals featured on the show that day.

Hubby rarely has the opportunity to watch, but is always impressed with the things SB has learned from the show.

One day, she asked me where the real Wild Kratts live. I told her I had no idea, but we could look online. We went to Google and soon learned their studio is located in Ottawa. That led to a look on the map and an impromptu lesson about Canada.

Since then, some version of the following conversation has taken place no fewer than 1,823 times:

"Mommy, let's go to Canada to meet the real Wild Kratts."

"I know you really want to see them, sweetie, but there are a lot of reasons why that isn't going to work out."

"Like what?"

"Well, Canada is very far away, for one thing. It would cost a lot of money to get there, and you don't have a passport yet."

"I want to meet them. Let's just go there. Let's go there now."

"Honey, you can't just show up at someone's house uninvited. It's not polite. And, in the case of celebrities like the Kratt brothers, it would be considered stalking."

"What's stalking?"

"Traveling all the way to Canada and showing up at Chris or Martin's house would be stalking. And we're not going to do that. But I promise you, if they ever come to Florida, I will take you to see them."

And so I have been crossing fingers, toes and anything I can that someday, somehow Chris and Martin Kratt would come to Florida. I figured there was a pretty decent chance if they ever did tour the US, they might make a stop at SeaWorld in Orlando.

Lo and behold, the other day I was on Facebook and saw an announcement from the official Wild Kratts fan page that the exact scenario I was hoping for is going down early next year.

I went to find SB to share the news...

Do you think she's excited? Their appearance will take place during hubby's and my anniversary weekend. I for one will be happy to spend it making one of my daughter's dreams come true.

Also? It's possible I'm looking forward to it as much as she is.
