Miles from anywhere

We picked SB up from preschool together, the car packed and ready to go. She ran to us shouting, "We're going to the beach!" And babbled non stop about how she excited she was the whole way down. For the first time, we got the classic, "Are we there yet?"

Once we had arrived, unpacked and settled into our home away from home (a beachfront condo), we headed to the beach to put our toes in the ocean:

SB was soaked in seconds. And I decided to just strip her down to her underwear. We had the beach almost entirely to ourselves. Once freed of her clothing, her next step was to throw herself on the ground, where she began to make sand angels...

It was such a joy to watch her. I knew we were going to have a really excellent vacation. The next day, we hit the beach with all the right clothing and equipment and began to enjoy some of the best weather NE Florida has to offer...

As I said earlier in the week - one hour from home, miles from anywhere. At times it felt as if we were on our own deserted tropical island. And despite being in a bathing suit working on what hubby calls my "Mommy tan," this mom stayed in the picture...

Because building memories like this is something I don't want to miss being part of!
