So, after month of misery, it seems my urologist has figured things out. He agrees with my gynecologist that my uterus is not to blame for my issues. So I guess I really do need to apologize to her. My bad.
After many tests, he believes I have a problem with the nerves in the bladder area. He labeled them, "oversensitive," explaining they were sending messages to my brain that my bladder needed to be emptied when it really didn't. The bladder itself appears to be just fine. (And he has seen it from every possible angle.)
Why this is happening is not known. When I last saw him, I was urinating every 15-20 minutes during the day, and waking as many as six times throughout the night to use the bathroom. I was, in a word, miserable.
He started me on some medication, saying it may work, but if not we could try another. After about two weeks, I am seeing significant improvement. I still have to go more often than what I think is normal, but things are much, much better.
However, because of this issue, I had to cancel my plans to go to St. Louis for my 25th high school reunion. There was no way I could travel in my condition. And no guarantee the medication would provide any relief.
I was bummed. You see, I actually love attending my reunions. I've been to every one so far and had a blast. I was looking forward to seeing good friends, and showing SB around the city where I grew up. And she was excited about going to the St. Louis Zoo and the City Museum.
Hubby had already put in for PTO from work, and we'd notified SB's preschool that she would be out for a few days. So hubby came up with a great idea - rent a beachfront condo locally and have a staycation.
From the condo we've rented, we will be able to watch the sun rise out of the ocean and set over the Intracoastal Waterway. We'll play in the sand, swim in the ocean and pool and eat fresh seafood to our heart's content (SB loves fish)!
It is a great consolation prize, and something we are looking forward to. Score one for hubby!
