SB has been in school for a month now. I had two goals for when she returned: to work out regularly and to secure some freelance writing gigs. So, how am I doing so far?
I have been doing great on goal #1. So far, every day that she has been in school I have done my advanced Winsor Pilates DVD. I love Winsor Pilates. Just 20 minutes three days a week and I get great results (and no, I'm not being paid to say that).
Best of all, I can work out in the privacy of my own home. Which is big for me. I've been doing that and have also hopped on my hubby's elliptical machine a few times for additional cardio. It feels good. Especially considering I couldn't walk up the stairs without being out a breath not too long ago.
Every time I have to force myself to get on the mat and do it. Every time I'm sure I won't make it through the workout. But I do, and there's a great sense of accomplishment. There are a few moves I have to work my way up to. For now I sit them out and have something to work toward.
As far as the goal #2 is concerned, I have applied for a writing position at one popular parenting website and pitched an idea to the editor at another. I have also complied a list of writing jobs to consider and/or target.
I am also planning to pitch a few article ideas to some print magazines. And sent out another round of query letter to literary agents. Nothing to report as of yet, but it feels good to be getting myself out there.
In the meantime, of course, I continue to write regularly. Here, over at The Mom Pledge Blog and on Moonfrye.com.
