Today is my parents' 50th wedding anniversary. They are off somewhere in North Carolina celebrating. I don't know where; they wouldn't tell me. I tried so hard to find out so I could arrange to have something delivered to them on this special day, but they were not giving it up.
I stopped by their house before they left to give them a card, some champagne and a basket of goodies. And the special project I had been working on for the past few months.
It is a CD with personal messages from more than 50 friends and family members from around the country. People from their past and present. It was a lot of fun to put together, and a wonderful way to look back at their life together.
Their friends - and some of mine - shared favorite memories of times with my parents and special wishes for their golden anniversary. Some are funny. Some are sentimental.
The CD ends with SB saying, "Happy Day, Dee Dee Ba Bop! Wuv you!" Dee Dee is what SB calls my mom and Ba Bop is my dad. She tends to say it all together, as if they were one person, "DeeDeeBaBop."
