November 5, 2010

This is a very exciting day at The Writer Revived. First of all, I am the featured TMC blogger! The fabulous Theta Mom is introducing me on her hugely popular blog. I am so honored. Second, I've reached the century mark. Today's post is #100!

When I received the email from Heather asking if I would be "interested" in being the featured TMC blogger, we were heading home from a family outing. I squealed so loudly I nearly caused my husband to run off the road.
When he asked for demanded an explanation I blurted out, "She picked me! She picked me! Theta Mom picked ME!" He had no idea what I was going on about. So I got the head shake and one of those looks. You know "The Look," don't you? You have one, and so does your spouse, most likely.
I have never met Heather, but I can tell we are a lot alike. We both believe there is no one "right" way to be a good mom. We respect the different decisions women make concerning motherhood, the decisions that are right for them. And, we understand the importance of a supportive Mom community.
Heather's blog is one I make sure I never miss. And that is saying a lot. I struggle so much these days to keep up with all the great blogs I have discovered. Every day, it seems, I connect with more fantastic people, and my blog roll grows. It is impossible to keep up with all of them, which makes me sad. But Theta Mom is one I have to keep up with.
I am a newbie to the blogosphere. This is my 100th post. So I have two BIG reasons to celebrate today! I have only been blogging since April. When I started I believe it was blatantly obvious I had no idea what I was doing. I have learned a lot in a short period, I am really enjoying it.
As the title suggests, my initial focus for this blog was to share my writing journey. But as it evolved I also began to write about motherhood. That is the topic of my current book, so it seemed natural to blog about it.
I write about what is going on in my life at the moment. What the pressing issues are, what I am currently dealing with. If you are new here, you might want to review some of my favorite posts. And please take a moment to introduce yourself. I love making new friends!
So who am I? I'm a wife, mom and writer. The order those roles take shift with each passing moment. Life is never dull. I'm married to a wonderful man I refer to here simply as hubby. Our daughter is the String Bean. SB for short. We live in Florida. Hubby grew up here. I escaped winter in the Midwest and moved to the land of eternal sunshine eight years ago. And I'm never leaving. I love coastal living!
I became a mom a little in later in life than I had planned. OK, a lot later. And after 15+ years as a communications and marketing professional, I decided to stay home with my daughter. That transition was not an easy one to make. And as SB approaches her second birthday, I am still finding my way. Which means there is plenty of fodder to keep this little blog going. Y'all stick around, won't you?

  1. Congrats on the 100th post! What a milestone! And thank you so much for this beautiful post about Theta Mom - seriously, it means so much!

And we *do* have so much in common as we share many of the same perspectives when it comes to this thing called motherhood - so happy to have "met" you in the blogosphere.

You are a great writer with much to offer this community, so I hope lots of new peeps come your way!

  2. Happy 100th Post! In about ten minutes my 102nd post will go live. I'm pretty new to the blogosphere too.

I've been enjoying your blog for awhile now, and I do plan on sticking around.

Have you tried using an RSS feed reader? I use google's reader. I currently have 344 unread posts, but it does help me keep up slightly better. ;-)

  3. Yeah on your super big day!!! How perfect to have your 100th post be so memorable! I'm cracking up because after all this time I finally know what SB stands for - how cute!! I know exactly how you feel about keeping up with all the great blogs. So glad I found yours so soon in my journey. Have fun today being the star!

  4. Congrats on your 100th post and your Theta Mom day! Life as a SAHM is definitely an adjustment and an adventure! I stayed home with my boys for 4 1/2 years, and it was wonderful. Now I'm a working mom and a college student, and blotting has become a way for me to stay sane! Following you here and on Twitter.

  5. Congratulations on your 100th post and for being the Theta Mom featured blogger!
I love reading your blog and will continue to do so! Thanks for sharing with all of us!
Your little String Bean is adorable too!

  6. I love it when my favorite people are featured at TMC. Congrats on your 100th post too!

  7. Congrats on your big day! So much to celebrate! I'm really looking forward to poking around your blog... we both started blogging around the same time and have daughters about the same age (mine is 18 months). I find that learning to be a stay at home mom is tough and it's always evolving!

    Congrats again!

  8. Congratulations on being the featured blogger! Also well done for reaching 100 posts. It's my first time here so I'll have a nosey around.

    Have a lovely day,

  9. Woo-hoo! Happy 100th!

Keep up the good work. :)

  10. Congratulations on your day!! And for your 100th post!! When your book get published I will be inline to buy it!! :)

  11. @ Theta Mom - Thank you! Here's to meeting in person someday! :)

@ Rebecca - I find the reader to be so intimidating. Putting a number to how many posts I want to read is just scary! LOL

@ ItRocks - Happy to have connected with you, too. Funny that you just figured out the SB thing. Must have seemed kind of strange without the context...

@ Amanda - Kudos to you for going back to work AND school! That's awesome! Glad to have "met" you through Theta Mom!

@ Jackie - Thank you for all the great compliments! I'll do my best to make sticking around worth your while. ;)

@ Krista - Aw! Thanks, hon!

@ Kasey - It is always evolving. But I bet you are enjoying that little girl of yours. It's a fun age! I look forward to getting to know you - and her - better!

@ Jade - Thank you! Hope you enjoy nosing. ;)

@ Linda - I think you should get some kind of award for being one of my most regular commenters! ;) I'll put some thought to that...

@ Mandi - OK, that was the best compliment anyone could give me! You just made my day that much better! :)

  12. 100 already? Nicely done. Theta Mom picked a winner.

  13. You know what I love about motherhood? I love that moms can have very different stories of how they came to be moms but we are all linked but such a common bond. Unlike you, I had children VERY early in life (read: NOT planned). Writing for my blog is my creative outlet as well. Working in my home was not the plan, but how many of us actually stick to "the plan"?

    Happy 100th post!

  14. Congratulations on your 100th post and your TMC day! How exciting for those to be on the same day!
I originally started my blog to talk about my kids and post photos of them but it turned into much more. It became my outlet for my writing. I used to love to write short stories and poems, not that I share them on I am looking forward to reading some of your other posts! Have a great Friday!
