I suppose some background information is needed. I have recently completed a proposal for my second book. I write nonfiction, and with that genre (as opposed to fiction), you normally don't write the book until AFTER you have signed a contract with a publisher. You write a proposal that explains what the book will be about, along with an outline and a few sample chapters.
Before you can get your book idea in front of any publishers, however, you need a literary agent. And that is where I am in the process. Querying agents. The standard response time for non-solicited queries is eight weeks. I am into my second week. It's going to be a while. And so I shall blog. Y'all come around from time to time and read what I have to say.
